I am not a musician.
Sure, you might have seen that picture taken in my parents den during a band practice during high school, but I was not very good and eventually decided to play the "wheels of steel"* as a substitute for my lack of musical skills.
During my college years I worked for the local music promoter, so had the opportunity to see many shows, up close and personal. Even though I went to a school famous the world over for its School Of Photography,** I did not own a camera.
When I did have a camera, life blocked me from many shows and when I did go, the seats were up yonder...wayyyy back there.
So, now with a good rig and the opportunity to see so many great musicians in intimate settings, I have taken to photographing many of them.
I guess, since I could not master the guitar or bass, I have always been drawn to THE HANDS.
Enjoy as I share the hands of some well-known and some lesser known guitarists and bassists...it is all about THE HANDS! (all photos go biggie by clicking)

String players fascinate me. It is soooo difficult. I tried to learn guitar a few years ago and I was such a chicken with the finger pain that I gave up.
Great shots of the hands. Loved this!
I gave the guitar about an hour's worth of practice when I was in 6th grade. The pain in my fingertips from trying to make the chords just wasn't worth it.
I do regret not trying piano, but practicing that would have severely cut into my football time.
I have the hands to play the guitar; unfortunately, I do not have the brain to play it. I'm guitarded.
