Late yesterday the word came down the interwebs, Bob Welch, who played with Fleetwood Mac from 1971-1974, an incredibly tumultuous time for the band, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After leaving Fleetwood Mac, Welch joined ex Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick and ex Todd Rundgren's Nazz drummer Thom Mooney in a band called Paris. They released two albums. In an interview years later Welch called the albums "ill-conceived".
With the assistance of his former bandmates in Fleetwood Mac, Welch began a solo- career that earned him moderate success over the rest of his life. His biggest hit was his remake of his song Sentimental Journey, which Fleetwood Mac had originally included on their "Bare Trees" Album.
Welch appeared on three Fleetwod Mac albums, "Future Games", "Bare Trees" and "Mystery to Me".
He was not included in the induction of Fleetwood Mac into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Yesterday, Welch committed suicide in his Nashville home at around 12:15 p.m. He was found by his wife with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest; a suicide note had been left behind. Welch had suffered from undisclosed health issues prior to his death.
He was a talented musician and any death by suicide is a tragedy.

Suicide is always a shame. When it takes someone of this much talent, it is a tragedy. Nice tribute.
Sad to see a great talent depart in this manor.May he Rest in peace.
I saw this news. I remember his music, which I guess is about as good a tribute as one can make to a musician.
