01/14/13 Fiona Boyes Sat On The Couch

Fiona Boyes came to Memphis in 2003 for the 19th IBC and ended the week as the first non-American and first woman to walk away with first place in the Challenge as she won the Solo/Duo Challenge. She has been at the top of her game ever since.

Fiona has been called the best female blues guitarist since Memphis Minnie by Pinetop Perkins and others. Ms. Boyes has also been honored with 4 Blues Music Award nominations.



Fiona and I talked about her life and career.  She shared some wonderful stories about her musical progression including her first "contest win", which she admitted not even knowing she was entered!

While we chatted we listened to songs from her latest, Blues For Hard Times.
