03/31/14 Polly O'Keary Sat On The Couch

Polly O'Keary began playing music in bars in Mexico at 16, and after a early rock career that included a record deal, she fell in love with blues at 28.

She was first named Washington Blues Society Female Vocalist of the Year in 2004, and has won it twice more since then.

Her first and second albums were well-reviewed, and the second was named Album of the Year by the WBS, and Polly was named Songwriter of the Year.

She spent time touring with Too Slim & The Taildraggers and is now back in the Northwest with a new trio, The Rhythm Method.

How did a 16-year old end up in Mexico playing in bars?

What was Polly's Ah-Ha Moment when the Blues Found her?

What was it like when she discovered she had won her first Female Vocalist Of The year Award?

What makes the chemistry between she and long-time drummer so strong when they are on stage backing Too Slim, or playing with Clint Nonnemaker in the new trio?

What is next for this woman who has paid her dues throughout the years?

Polly and I explore all this and more while we spin tracks from the new album, Compass.
