My Week As A Tortured Soul Day 9 - Tall City Blues Fest Day 1

We hit the road at 1:30am and drove all night, arriving at about 11:15am... LONG A** DRIVE THROUGH TEXAS!

Dick drove the first shift, then I took over until I started to fade and then Dick finished off the trip.

Got here, did my show from the lobby of the Doubletree Hotel and then changed to begin the day as MC of The Tall City Blues Fest Presented by Mazda Midland/Odessa.

A little drama took place with a local DJ, (who knows NOTHING ABOUT THE BLUES)...but the great folks at The Tall City Blues Fest got it straightened out.

I should be commended, because this woman (see I am being diplomatic here) kept poking me in the chest the whole time and she walked away with her finger intact.

But the day was great... HOT, - both weather-wise and music-wise.

Rock Island Rollers from Des Moines, IA kicked it off with a great set of horn driven blues.

Then my girl, Annika Chambers with the Paul Ramirez Band backing her,  blew the audience away.

Ted Drozdowski's Scissormen then took the blues in a totally different direction and the crowd followed along willingly.

Finally, the gents from The Ghost Town Blues Band took the stage and KILLED it.

Finally there was a huge jam on stage that left the crowd drained from the excitement and energy they gave to the artists.

The crew from Western Audio Works are to be commended for their efforts all day.

As well as all the volunteers of this great event, headed by Lisa Grissom (Producer and Founder) and Ronn Reeger (Talent Buyer & Founder).
